So, I’m not a big fan of ‘electronic’ or ‘electronica’ music, as some call it. But, I’ve made an exception. The Postal Service. I got their EP entitled ‘Give Up’, and I can’t describe it, but this guy can: Evil Sponge
Yes. Agreed. Done.
And, some lyrical niceness from Moneen:
This afternoon I burned my eyes out of my head, but from what I read I’m fine…or dead.
Now I understand just what was said…I never did.
Last night I died. Songs droned in fives, and in awkward times it creeps down my spine.
Now I understand just what was meant when it was said that I was dead.
And she sang these things only to me.
The only one who understands what she means and dreams.
We’re completely streamed at the seams, she looks through me and begins to speak…
What did you say?
Yeah. Stupid raincoat. I don’t like those guys too much. (DMB, Mayer, Johns[t]on)
On a lighter, more gooder-music note ..
Moneen = the best. Go buy their cd. If you like the Get Up Kids, you’ll like Moneen. If you like the Movielife … you’ll like Moneen.
Copeland = the almost best. They are a bit softer than I’ve been listening to lately, but still good nonetheless. Nice, smooth, emo. Good stuff.
I can’t elaborate any more. It’s way past my bed time.
If you could go back in time and fix all your previous mistakes, you’d eventually make them for the first time, again, only to have to go back and fix them again for the first time … again.
Deep thoughts at 12:03am.
I have been wrongfully unfair to Linkin Park. I have accused them of making a crappy album without listening to more than 2 songs. Maybe I’ll give it a listen and see what I really think. I’m not saying my opinion will change, but at least I’ll have the ‘i heard it, it sucks’ comeback line.
I’ve been buying lots of CD’s lately. I guess it’s, in a way, to make up for the MP3’s I have. I bought Thick Records’ OIL compilation. Has some pretty good songs by Rise Against, Armor for Sleep, the Reputation and the Akaline Trio, among others. I bought Victory Style 5. It has an unreleased song by Taking Back Sunday, some Thursday, Catch 22, and others.. a wide range of musical styles. It’s neat. I bought the Detachment Kit cd. It’s .. interesting. I didn’t like it at first as much as I do now. It just took 2-3 times though it to like it this much. I bought Too Young To Die, an emo compilation about suicide. It’s pretty mellow, but thats good sometimes. I like the songs by Brandston alot on there. So, that was in the past week or so. There was a time when I bought that many CD’s in a 4 month period. I guess its different when you buy the oddball comps and bands that aren’t well known who sell their CD’s for $3-8 each, instead of the usual $12-15.
I also stumbled upon the new Fall Out Boy CD. It rocks more than the 6-song sampler I already had. And a new CD by Moneen. They sound very (almost too) similar to the Movielife. It confused me today. I thought I was listening to a new song by the Movielife, but then noticed it was Moneen. Weird.
Darren bought a Waking Up Falling CD. It’s indie/emo/mellow band that is real good, as well.
Being overwhelmed with new music is never a bad thing. Once I start to get bored (rrrrrright) with this stuff over and over, the new NOFX and Less Than Jake should be out. Woo.
Almost hit 500 users on listen-to. That’s pretty neat, considering that I really haven’t told that many people about Listen-To, besides some friends, the people at work, and 2 message boards. I’m averaging about 7 new users a day, and most of them say they found it by “someones AIM profile” or “a forum signature” or “friends webpage”. Another similar site (winampdb.com) has gone offline recently. I haven’t seen much traffic (that I know of) from them, but I’m still curious as to why they went offline. Hopefully listen-to will never get to that point.
I took a 2 hour nap today already. I think I may just go back to sleep now. For some reason it feels like Friday. I don’t know why, but it does. It’s not like it would make that much of a difference though…
So — wireless headphones on .. queue up Linkin Park and Evanesence (curious, as well, about the hype) — time to go fall asleep to loud music.
